MISSISSAUGA beats AURORA 7-1 as Watts gets hat trick

Daryl Watts lifted MISSISSAUGA to a 7-1 victory with a hat trick against AURORA.

Watts got on the scoresheet 5:07 into the first period. He then added goals at 7:46 into the second and at 3:13 into the third.

AURORA was stymied by MISSISSAUGA's netminder Lin Han, who stopped 26 shots during the victory. The solid play of Han will be reflected in her goals against average, which pre-game was 2.04.

MISSISSAUGA put up an impenetrable defensive front on the penalty kill, and did not allow AURORA to score on any of its four power plays. MISSISSAUGA forced AURORA goalie Jenna Alessandrini to work between the pipes, taking 47 shots. MISSISSAUGA's goal total was higher than its season average. MISSISSAUGA averages 3.4 goals per game.

MISSISSAUGA additionally got points from Mikyla Grant-Mentis, who also tallied two goals and two assists. Others who scored for MISSISSAUGA included Brooke Bonsteel (A) and Jordan Marchese, who each put in one. Other players who recorded assists for MISSISSAUGA were Lindsay Agnew (C), who had four and Rose Falzone and Natalie Marcuzzi (A), who contributed one each.

AURORA was led by Madison Heeney, who scored the team's only goal. Heeney scored 4:33 into the second period to make the score 2-1 MISSISSAUGA. Mia Rogers picked up the assist.

MISSISSAUGA incurred 10 minutes in penalty time with five minors. AURORA's Alessandrini stopped 40 shots out of the 47 that she faced. AURORA incurred six minutes in penalty time with three minors.
