TORONTO hangs on, beats AURORA 2-0

Haley Shugart scored the go-ahead goal in the first period, and TORONTO held off the challenges of AURORA in a tough 2-0 win.

TORONTO took over the lead for good with a goal by Shugart at 1:10 in the first period. Avery Mitchell picked up the assist.

Shugart was all over the ice for TORONTO, as she had two goals in the win.

TORONTO was boosted by Kayla Wormsbecher, who turned in a shutout with 26 saves. Wormsbecher certainly lowered her goals against average, which was 1.98 entering the contest.

TORONTO put up an impenetrable defensive front on the penalty kill, and did not allow AURORA to score on any of its three power plays.

AURORA's penalty kill was spotless, allowing no goals on three TORONTO power plays.

TORONTO incurred six minutes in penalty time with three minors. AURORA's Frances Tenney stopped 23 shots out of the 25 that she faced. AURORA incurred six minutes in penalty time with three minors.
