ETOBICOKE uses early goal to top WHITBY, 2-0

ETOBICOKE beat WHITBY, 2-0, in a contest where the winning goal was scored in the first period but the game remained close throughout.

ETOBICOKE took over the lead for good with a goal by Nicole Iannelli at 8:16 in the first period. Niamh Haughey assisted on the tally.

Susannah Dunn frustrated WHITBY's offense all game, and stopped 25 shots en route to a shutout. The solid play of Dunn will be reflected in her goals against average, which pre-game was 2.04.

ETOBICOKE was led by Iannelli, who registered one goal.

ETOBICOKE stifled WHITBY's power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man. ETOBICOKE was steadier on the defensive front than it has been for much of this season. ETOBICOKE allows 2.2 goals per game.

ETOBICOKE also got a goal from Christina Chin as well. Other players who recorded assists for ETOBICOKE were Melissa Misztal and Willow Corson (A), who contributed one each.

WHITBY's penalty kill was spotless, allowing no goals on three ETOBICOKE power plays.

ETOBICOKE incurred 10 minutes in penalty time with five minors. Emma Schram rejected 16 shots on goal for WHITBY. WHITBY incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors.
