Ayres' big game bests BRAMPTON in 6-1 STONEY CREEK win

Behind a great game by Stephanie Ayres, who had two goals and two assists, STONEY CREEK defeated BRAMPTON, 6-1.

Ayres found the back of the net 8:00 into the first period to make the score 2-0 STONEY CREEK and again while 8:23 into the second to make the score 4-1 STONEY CREEK.

STONEY CREEK excelled on the penalty kill, not giving up a single goal in five chances. STONEY CREEK's offense rang up 38 shots on BRAMPTON's net. STONEY CREEK outdid its season average for goals scored. STONEY CREEK averages 2.6 goals per game.

STONEY CREEK additionally got points from Kristin ONeill (C), who also registered one goal and one assist. Courtney Maud also scored for STONEY CREEK. In addition, STONEY CREEK received assists from Summer Belanco, who had one and Megan Korzack, who had three.

BRAMPTON stifled STONEY CREEK's power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man. STONEY CREEK's defense shut down BRAMPTON's forwards for much of the game, and BRAMPTON got off only 13 shots during the contest. BRAMPTON's defense let in more goals than it usually has this year. BRAMPTON gives up 2.4 goals per game. BRAMPTON could not stay out of the penalty box, as the team accrued 18 minutes in penalties during the game.

BRAMPTON was led by Meghan Subic, who scored the team's only goal. Subic scored 39 seconds into the second period to make the score 3-1 STONEY CREEK. Abby Hofstra (A) assisted on the tally.

STONEY CREEK's Serena DAngelo stopped 12 shots out of the 13 that she faced. STONEY CREEK incurred 10 minutes in penalty time with five minors. Sophia Akhavan-Zanjani made 32 saves for BRAMPTON on 38 shots.
