TORONTO survives STONEY CREEK comeback, wins 2-1

STONEY CREEK tried its best to erase a two-goal deficit, but TORONTO would not be denied the victory and hung on to win, 2-1.

TORONTO made the score 2-0 on a goal by Emma Buckles at 1:56 in the third period, and STONEY CREEK got as close as 2-1 when Megan Korzack scored 19:21 into the third period.

TORONTO was led by Buckles, who grabbed one goal.

Melanie Camacho (PU) also scored for TORONTO. In addition, TORONTO received assists from Haley Shugart, Claire Thompson, and Neve Van Pelt, who each chipped in one.

STONEY CREEK managed to stay out of the box better than usual, tallying one minor for two minutes in penalty time. STONEY CREEK finished below its season average of 9.0 penalty minutes per game. TORONTO's defense shut down STONEY CREEK's forwards for much of the game, and STONEY CREEK got off only 10 shots during the contest.

Other players who recorded assists for STONEY CREEK were Amanda Butterfield (A) and Sarah Jerome (A), who contributed one each.

TORONTO's Stephanie Neatby stopped nine shots out of the 10 that she faced. TORONTO incurred four minutes in penalty time with two minors. Hannah Miller made 18 saves for STONEY CREEK on 20 shots. STONEY CREEK registered zero goals on two power play opportunities.
