DURHAM WEST beats OTTAWA 6-1 as Hoskin (PU) gets hat trick

Alexa Hoskin (PU) netted a hat trick to lead DURHAM WEST over OTTAWA, 6-1.

Hoskin (PU) got on the scoresheet 8:25 into the first period. He then added goals at 12:56 into the second and at 19:27 into the third.

DURHAM WEST managed to stay out of the box better than usual, racking up one minor for two minutes in penalty time. DURHAM WEST ended up below its season average of 10.0 penalty minutes per game. DURHAM WEST forced OTTAWA goalie Tanya Winchcombe to work between the pipes, taking 43 shots. DURHAM WEST bested its season scoring average. DURHAM WEST averages 3.1 goals per game.

DURHAM WEST also had goals scored by Julia Talman, who had two and Karissa Hoskin (PU) and Natalie Wozney, who scored one goal each. In addition, DURHAM WEST received assists from Lisa Bruno (A), who had two, Taylor Hicks, who had three, and Samantha McKenzie (C), Meghan Howell, and Kirsten MacDougall (A), who each chipped in one.

DURHAM WEST's defense shut down OTTAWA's forwards for much of the game, and OTTAWA got off only 11 shots during the contest. OTTAWA's defense let in more goals than it usually has this year. OTTAWA gives up 2.5 goals per game.

OTTAWA was led by Regan Toltesi(PU), who scored the team's only goal. Toltesi(PU) scored 4:28 into the first period to make the score 1-0 OTTAWA. Cristina Bascelli(PU) provided the assist.

Tera Hofmann recorded 10 saves for DURHAM WEST. DURHAM WEST registered zero goals on two power play opportunities. Tanya Winchcombe made 37 saves for OTTAWA on 43 shots. OTTAWA incurred four minutes in penalty time with two minors.
