TORONTO tried its best to erase a three-goal deficit, but CAMBRIDGE would not be denied the victory and hung on to win, 3-1. A goal by Melissa Bieman (PU) put CAMBRIDGE up 3-0 in the second period, but TORONTO pulled to within two on Haley Shugart's tally 12:48 into the third period. CAMBRIDGE got the win behind a great game by Emily Woodhouse, who had two goals and one assist. Woodhouse scored the first of her two goals at 7:17 into the first period to make the score 1-0 CAMBRIDGE. Natasha Costello provided the assist. Woodhouse's next tally made the score 2-0 CAMBRIDGE with 11:06 left in the second period. Bieman (PU) picked up the assist. CAMBRIDGE excelled on the penalty kill, not giving up a single goal in four chances. TORONTO's defense shut down CAMBRIDGE's forwards for much of the game, and CAMBRIDGE got off only 12 shots during the contest. CAMBRIDGE also got points from Bieman (PU), who also racked up one goal and two assists. In addition, CAMBRIDGE received assists from Kati Tabin and Morgan Rolph, who each chipped in one. TORONTO's penalty kill was spotless, allowing no goals on three CAMBRIDGE power plays. Caitlin Kroetsch made 22 saves for CAMBRIDGE on 23 shots. CAMBRIDGE incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors. TORONTO's Kayla Wormsbecher stopped nine shots out of the 12 that she faced. TORONTO incurred six minutes in penalty time with three minors.
