WHITBY beats NEPEAN 3-1 after comeback scare

NEPEAN tried its best to erase a three-goal deficit, but WHITBY would not be denied the victory and hung on to win, 3-1.

WHITBY took a 3-0 lead during the second period, only to have NEPEAN storm back on a Abygail Moloughney goal 19:10 into the third period to pull to two goals down.

WHITBY's penalty kill excelled, as WHITBY gave up zero goals despite allowing nine power plays.

WHITBY stifled NEPEAN's power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man. WHITBY's penalty killing units received substantial work throughout the game as WHITBY finished with 22 penalty minutes.

WHITBY was led by Hailey Wilson, who registered one goal and one assist. Wilson scored 13:11 into the first period to make the score 2-0 WHITBY. Breanna Bedborough provided the assist. WHITBY also got points from Bedborough, who also racked up one goal and one assist to lead the team in points. WHITBY also got a goal from Alicia Pallister as well. In addition, WHITBY received assists from Samantha Isbell, Nikita Boardman, and Maya Patel, who each chipped in one.

NEPEAN put up an impenetrable defensive front on the penalty kill, and did not allow WHITBY to score on any of its five power plays. NEPEAN was forced to rely heavily on their penalty kill unit throughout the game, as it racked up 14 penalty minutes.

Other players who recorded assists for NEPEAN were Kalie Grant and Tristyn Svetek, who contributed one each.

WHITBY's Rachel McQuigge stopped 21 shots out of the 22 that she faced. Amanda Hadwen rejected 18 shots on goal for NEPEAN.
