CAMBRIDGE holds on for 3-2 win against TORONTO

CAMBRIDGE survived a determined comeback attempt by TORONTO on the way to a 3-2 win.

CAMBRIDGE made the score 3-1 on a goal by Rachael Irvine at 10:09 in the third period, and TORONTO got as close as 3-2 when Haley Shugart scored 14:32 into the third period.

CAMBRIDGE's penalty kill excelled, as CAMBRIDGE gave up zero goals despite allowing six power plays.

CAMBRIDGE stifled TORONTO's power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man. CAMBRIDGE could not stay out of the penalty box, as the team accrued 14 minutes in penalties during the game.

CAMBRIDGE also had goals scored by Abby Lafreniere and Emily Woodhouse, who scored one goal each. Other players who recorded assists for CAMBRIDGE were Annie Berg, Alyssa Chiarello, and Meghan Anton, who each chipped in one.

TORONTO excelled on the penalty kill, not giving up a single goal in six chances. TORONTO kept CAMBRIDGE's goalie busy throughout the game, and Alexx Ridding made 32 saves on 34 shots.

In addition, TORONTO received assists from Neve Van Pelt and Emma Low-A-Chee, who contributed two each.

Stephanie Neatby made zero saves before being replaced by Kayla Wormsbecher, who took the loss and made 12 saves. TORONTO incurred 14 minutes in penalty time with seven minors.
