Johnson's goals lift MISSISSAUGA to 8-1 victory over BRAMPTON

MISSISSAUGA relied on the scoring touch of Kaelyn Johnson, who netted four goals, to beat BRAMPTON, 8-1.

Johnson notched her first tally 2:44 into the first period. He then added goals at 7:46 into the first, at 11:07 into the second, and at 15:25 into the third.

MISSISSAUGA's penalty kill was spotless, allowing no goals on three BRAMPTON power plays. MISSISSAUGA forced BRAMPTON goalie Sophia Akhavan-Zanjani to work between the pipes, taking 32 shots. MISSISSAUGA surpassed its usual scoring output this season. MISSISSAUGA averages 3.5 goals per game.

MISSISSAUGA additionally got points from Natalie Marcuzzi (A), who also had one goal and four assists to lead the team in points. Daryl Watts also scored for MISSISSAUGA. In addition, MISSISSAUGA received assists from Mikyla Grant-Mentis, who had four, Keelin Farren, Samantha McCluskey, Jacquie Tam, and Jordan Marchese, who each chipped in one, and Rose Falzone and Kyra Colbert (A), who contributed two each.

BRAMPTON was led by Megan Hurrell (PU), who scored the team's only goal. Hurrell (PU) scored 6:46 into the second period to make the score 2-1 MISSISSAUGA. Kaitlyn Uyeno provided the assist.

Carmen Lasis made 18 saves for MISSISSAUGA on 19 shots. MISSISSAUGA incurred six minutes in penalty time with three minors. BRAMPTON's Akhavan-Zanjani stopped 24 shots out of the 32 that she faced. BRAMPTON incurred four minutes in penalty time with two minors.
