NEPEAN wins tough contest against STONEY CREEK, 5-4

NEPEAN and STONEY CREEK were evenly matched throughout their contest, but NEPEAN made the most of its opportunities and won, 5-4.

Neither team gained more than a two-goal lead, and Samantha Bouley's goal in the second period proved to be the difference maker.

Kristy Pidgeon had two goals and one assist to lead NEPEAN. Pidgeon scored the first of her two goals at 3:56 into the first period to make the score 1-0 NEPEAN. Helen Markovic picked up the assist. Pidgeon's next tally made the score 3-2 NEPEAN with 6:33 left in the first period. Markovic provided the assist.

NEPEAN excelled on the penalty kill, not giving up a single goal in three chances.

NEPEAN also got points from Bouley, who also finished with one goal and one assist. NEPEAN also got a goal from Kalie Grant (C) as well. In addition, NEPEAN received assists from Serena Weaver, Katie Rankin, Devon Greenough, and Amy Graham, who each chipped in one.

STONEY CREEK's defense let in more goals than it usually has this year. STONEY CREEK gives up 1.7 goal per game.

STONEY CREEK was helped by Kristen Siermachesky, who registered one goal. Siermachesky scored 5:50 into the second period to make the score 4-3 NEPEAN. Sarah Jerome (A) picked up the assist. STONEY CREEK also had goals scored by Samantha Watkins, Sarah Rumbell, and Courtney Maud, who each put in one. More assists for STONEY CREEK came via Megan Korzack and Kristin ONeill (C), who contributed one each.

NEPEAN's Amanda Hadwen stopped 17 shots out of the 21 that she faced. NEPEAN incurred six minutes in penalty time with three minors. Serena DAngelo made 10 saves for STONEY CREEK on 15 shots. STONEY CREEK incurred 10 minutes in penalty time with five minors.
