OAKVILLE beats CAMBRIDGE 4-3 after comeback scare

OAKVILLE survived a determined comeback attempt by CAMBRIDGE on the way to a 4-3 win.

A goal by Meaghan Hector put OAKVILLE up 3-1 in the second period, but CAMBRIDGE pulled to within one on Kati Tabin's tally 3:06 into the third period.

Emma Maltais was all over the ice for OAKVILLE, as she finished with two goals in the win. Maltais found the back of the net 7:32 into the first period to make the score 1-1 and again while 17:07 into the third to make the score 4-3 OAKVILLE.

OAKVILLE could not stay out of the penalty box, as the team accrued 16 minutes in penalties during the game.

OAKVILLE also got points from Hector, who also registered one goal and one assist. OAKVILLE also got a goal from Maddie Sisokin as well. More assists for OAKVILLE came via Jessica Maggioni, who had two and Devon Facchinato, Julia Edgar, and Kristen Jay, who each chipped in one.

CAMBRIDGE could not stay out of the penalty box, as the team accrued 18 minutes in penalties during the game.

CAMBRIDGE was helped by Alyssa Chiarello, who grabbed one goal. Chiarello scored 6:26 into the first period to make the score 1-0 CAMBRIDGE. Annie Berg picked up the assist. Carly AuCoin also scored for CAMBRIDGE. In addition, CAMBRIDGE received assists from Natasha Costello, Shelby Wood, Abby Lafreniere, Sarah Verbeek, and Rachael Irvine, who contributed one each.

Nikki Cece rejected 20 shots on goal for OAKVILLE. OAKVILLE registered one goal on eight power play opportunities. Alexx Ridding made 19 saves for CAMBRIDGE on 23 shots. CAMBRIDGE registered two goals on seven power play opportunities.
