Miami University rolls over Ohio State University, 7-1

The Miami University RedHawks had a four-goal lead after two periods and cruised the rest of the way en route to a 7-1 win over the Ohio State University Buckeyes.

Miami University was led by Ellen Chiligiris, who registered one goal. Chiligiris scored 7:19 into the first period to make the score 2-0 Miami University. Michaela Goguen assisted on the tally.

The RedHawks managed to stay out of the box better than usual, registering one minor for two minutes in penalty time. Miami University finished below its season average of 6.0 penalty minutes per game. The RedHawks forced Ohio State University goalie Emily Ciborek to work between the pipes, taking 52 shots. Miami University outdid its season average for goals scored. The RedHawks average 4.2 goals per game.

Miami University additionally got points from Kaley Mooney, who also had two goals and one assist to lead the team in points. Miami University also had goals scored by Izzy Smith, who had two and Caroline Noble and Rachael Booth, who scored one goal each. More assists for Miami University came via Morgan Mcgrath, who had two and Kathleen Baldwin, Natalie Hornbuckle, Katelyn Augustine, and Jordan Hanson, who contributed one each.

The Buckeyes managed to stay out of the box better than usual, finishing with one minor for two minutes in penalty time. Ohio State University ended up below its season average of 6.0 penalty minutes per game. Miami University's defense shut down the Buckeyes' forwards for much of the game, and Ohio State University got off only eight shots during the contest.

Courtney Trudeau also scored for Ohio State University. In addition, Ohio State University received assists from Melinda Vercollone, who had one.

The RedHawks' Emalee Wills stopped seven shots out of the eight that he faced. Miami University registered zero goals on one power play opportunities. Ciborek recorded 45 saves for the Buckeyes. Ohio State University registered zero goals on one power play opportunities.
