M1 Kent State University took over the lead for good with a goal by Robert Rhue at 3:05 in the first period. Jonathon Buttitta picked up the assist.The Golden Flashes were led by Tj West, who had one goal. West scored 18:14 into the second period to make the score 3-1 M1 Kent State University. M1 Kent State University stifled M1 Rochester College's power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man. The Warriors were unable to stop the Golden Flashes from sending pucks towards the net, and M1 Kent State University eventually piled up 33 shots on goal. The Golden Flashes found themselves short handed often, totaling 14 penalty minutes and allowing four power plays. Team's forwards weren't the only contributers offensively, and the team's defensemen showcased their scoring touch with two goals. M1 Kent State University also got points from Buttitta, who also racked up one goal and one assist to lead the team in points. M1 Kent State University also got a goal from Miles Radosevic as well. Other players who recorded assists for M1 Kent State University were Curtis Swan, who had one. M1 Rochester College excelled on the penalty kill, not giving up a single goal in three chances. By firing 30 shots on goal, the Warriors exceeded the 1.1 shot they average per game this year. M1 Rochester College was helped by Griffin Holt, who grabbed one goal.
