M1 Davenport University wins tough contest against M1 Rochester College, 3-2

The M1 Davenport University Panthers and the M1 Rochester College Warriors were evenly matched throughout their contest, but M1 Davenport University made the most of its opportunities and won, 3-2.

Each team kept the other at bay throughout the game, and Alex Hulford secured the win for the Panthers with a goal in the third period.

M1 Davenport University was paced by Hulford, who grabbed one goal. Hulford scored 15:59 into the third period to make the score 3-2 M1 Davenport University. Winston Hofer provided the assist.

The Panthers' penalty kill was spotless, allowing no goals on three M1 Rochester College power plays. The 40 shots that M1 Davenport University put on net surpassed the Panthers' average of 6.6 shots per game this season.

M1 Davenport University also had goals scored by Cody Walsh and Jordan Simmonds, who scored one goal each. In addition, M1 Davenport University received assists from Chris Eckler, who had two and Kody Polin and Alyx Fonseca, who contributed one each.

With 20 shots on target during the contest, M1 Rochester College exceeded the 1.4 shot it averages per game this year.

The Warriors were helped by Griffin Holt, who had one goal. Holt scored 13:19 into the first period to make the score 2-1 M1 Davenport University. Christopher Williford picked up the assist. Joey Giordano also scored for M1 Rochester College. More assists for M1 Rochester College came via Brock Malatches, who had one.

M1 Davenport University's Clayton Brown stopped 18 shots out of the 20 that he faced. The Panthers incurred four minutes in penalty time with two minors. Brenden Kruckenberg made 37 saves for M1 Rochester College on 40 shots. The Warriors incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors.
