M1 Rochester College holds on for 3-2 win against M1 John Carroll University

The M1 Rochester College Warriors survived a determined comeback attempt by the M1 John Carroll University Blue Streaks on the way to a 3-2 win.

A goal by Brock Malatches put M1 Rochester College up 3-1 in the third period, but M1 John Carroll University pulled to within one on Tyler Gaglia's tally 18:58 into the third period.

The Warriors were sparked by Malatches, who registered one goal and one assist. Malatches scored 9:22 into the third period to make the score 3-1 M1 Rochester College. Jacob Burford assisted on the tally.

M1 Rochester College put up an impenetrable defensive front on the penalty kill, and did not allow the Blue Streaks to score on any of their five power plays. The Warriors kept M1 John Carroll University's goalie busy throughout the game, and Matthew Russell made 38 saves on 41 shots.

Others who scored for M1 Rochester College included Joey Giordano and Matt Kadolph, who each put in one. Other players who recorded assists for M1 Rochester College were Tj Burns, who had two and Dakota Olvin and Michael DiFranco, who each chipped in one.

By firing 21 shots on goal, the Blue Streaks exceeded the 1.7 shot they average per game this year. M1 John Carroll University found itself short handed often, totaling 24 penalty minutes and allowing eight power plays.

The Blue Streaks were helped by Cullen McMahon, who had one goal. McMahon scored 13:51 into the first period to make the score 1-1. Tyler Potts picked up the assist. More assists for M1 John Carroll University came via Anthony Carbone, who had one.

Brenden Kruckenberg made 19 saves for M1 Rochester College on 21 shots. The Warriors incurred 32 minutes in penalty time with six minors. M1 Rochester College ran into serious disciplinary problems during the contest, and Ryan Jaros was ejected from the game.
