M1 Rochester College beats M1 Western Michigan University 4-3 after comeback scareSI Macomb Rink1 Fri, Oct 02, 2015 The M1 Rochester College Warriors survived a determined comeback attempt by the M1 Western Michigan University Stallions on the way to a 4-3 win. A goal by Michael Lasky put M1 Rochester College up 4-1 in the second period, but M1 Western Michigan University pulled to within one on Matthew Williams's tally 9:30 into the third period. The Warriors' penalty kill excelled, as M1 Rochester College gave up zero goals despite allowing nine power plays. The Warriors stifled the Stallions' power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man. M1 Rochester College's penalty killing units received substantial work throughout the game as the Warriors finished with 18 penalty minutes. Others who scored for M1 Rochester College included Matt Kadolph and Kyle Truscott, who scored one goal each. Other players who recorded assists for M1 Rochester College were Nicholas Beaune, Joey Giordano, Ryan Jaros, Dakota Olvin, Alex Kopek, Griffin Holt, and Matteo Mazur, who each chipped in one. M1 Western Michigan University's offense rang up 44 shots on M1 Rochester College's net. The Stallions' penalty kill was ineffective, and let in two goals to the Warriors' power play unit. M1 Western Michigan University was led by Brandon Grillo, who tallied one goal and two assists. Grillo scored 19:36 into the second period to make the score 4-2 M1 Rochester College. Joey Olmsted picked up the assist. M1 Western Michigan University also got points from Mitch Rogowski, who also had one goal and one assist. In addition, M1 Western Michigan University received assists from Colin Tittle, who had one. Zakk Olvin made 41 saves for M1 Rochester College on 44 shots. Will Massey recorded 22 saves for the Stallions. M1 Western Michigan University incurred six minutes in penalty time with three minors.
