M1 Lebanon Valley College outlasts M1 Rutgers University, 5-3

In a game where neither team could get a cushion, the M1 Lebanon Valley College Flying Dutchmen escaped with a 5-3 victory over the M1 Rutgers University Scarlet Knights.

No lead was more than two goals during the contest, and the winning goal was scored by Justin Boyd at 5:20 of the third period.

M1 Lebanon Valley College was led by Boyd, who grabbed one goal.

In the losing effort, M1 Rutgers University was led by Brian Gnad, who registered two goals. Gnad scored the first of his two goals on the power play at 6:17 into the first period to make the score 1-1. The Scarlet Knights had gotten the advantage when the Flying Dutchmen's Jacob Leamer was sent off for roughing. CJ Maksut assisted on the tally. Gnad's next tally on the power play made the score 3-3 with 18:27 left in the third period. Maksut picked up the assist.

By firing 46 shots on goal, M1 Lebanon Valley College exceeded the 18.1 shots it averages per game this year. The Flying Dutchmen could not stay out of the penalty box, as the team accrued 20 minutes in penalties during the game.

M1 Lebanon Valley College also got points from Zack McKown, who also tallied one goal and one assist to lead the team in points. M1 Lebanon Valley College also had goals scored by Bradley Nolan, Brennan Thompson, and Andy Thurby, who scored one goal each. Other players who recorded assists for M1 Lebanon Valley College were Paul Hefferin, Joey LaBonte, Bryan Hovanec, Nicholas Skerlick, Travis Hall, Jacob Horst, Cody Pessig, and Russell Armbruster, who each chipped in one.

M1 Rutgers University put 27 shots on net during the contest, more than the 4.3 it averages per game.

Brenden Siegel also scored for M1 Rutgers University. In addition, M1 Rutgers University received assists from Kevin Fitch, who had one.

Brenden Manquen made 24 saves for M1 Lebanon Valley College on 27 shots. The Flying Dutchmen registered zero goals on one power play opportunities. Christopher Marsillo rejected 41 shots on goal for the Scarlet Knights. M1 Rutgers University incurred 10 minutes in penalty time with five minors.
