Pensacola hangs on, beats Mississippi RiverKings 5-3Landers Center Fri, Apr 08, 2016 Story by Narrative Science.
The Pensacola Ice Flyers beat Mississippi RiverKings, 5-3, in a contest where the winning goal was scored in the first period but the game remained close throughout. Paul Rodrigues provided Pensacola with the game-winning tally when he scored 11:16 into the first period. Charlie Adams picked up the assist.Stephen Buco had a great game for the Ice Flyers, netting two goals. Buco found the back of the net 7:49 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Pensacola and again while 11:04 into the second to make the score 4-2 Pensacola. Pensacola also got points from Rodrigues, who also had one goal and one assist. Pensacola also got a goal from Corey Banfield as well. In addition, Pensacola received assists from Jeremy Gates, Joseph Holka, and Steve Bergin, who contributed one each. The 32 shots that Mississippi RiverKings put on net surpassed Mississippi RiverKings' average of 26.3 shots per game this season. Mississippi RiverKings was helped by Matt Harrington, who finished with one goal. Harrington scored 5:25 into the second period to make the score 3-2 Pensacola. Max Cook provided the assist. Mississippi RiverKings also had goals scored by Reid Campbell and Todd Hosmer, who each put in one. More assists for Mississippi RiverKings came via Cullen Bradshaw, who had two and Mike Grace and Leo Thomas, who each chipped in one. Pensacola's John McLean stopped 29 shots out of the 32 that he faced. The Ice Flyers incurred six minutes in penalty time with three minors and had no power play opportunities. Peter Di Salvo made 21 saves for Mississippi RiverKings on 25 shots. Mississippi RiverKings ended with no penalties and went 1-for-3 on the power play.
