The Peoria Rivermen used a sparkling performance by David Jacobson to take down the Knoxville Ice Bears, as the netminder did not allow a goal in Peoria's 3-0 shutout victory. The Rivermen's penalty kill excelled, as Peoria gave up zero goals despite allowing eight power plays. The Rivermen were led by Cody Dion, who registered one goal. Dion scored on the power play 14:19 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Peoria. Peoria had taken the advantage when Knoxville's Dennis Sicard got sent off for roughing. The Rivermen stifled the Ice Bears' power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man. Peoria's defense was surprisingly good. The Rivermen average 2.3 goals allowed per game. The Ice Bears were led by Garrett Vermeersch, who took five shots. David Jacobson made 26 saves for Peoria on 26 shots. The Rivermen incurred 16 minutes in penalty time with eight minors. Knoxville's Bryan Hince stopped 18 shots out of the 21 that he faced. The Ice Bears incurred 10 minutes in penalty time with five minors.
