Fayetteville blows out Mississippi RiverKings, 7-3

The Fayetteville FireAntz were firing on all cylinders against Mississippi RiverKings, and when the final buzzer sounded FireAntz emerged with a 7-3 win.

Josh McQuade had two goals and one assist to lead Fayetteville. McQuade scored the first of his two goals at 2:29 into the first period to make the score 2-0 Fayetteville. Sy Nutkevitch assisted on the tally. McQuade's next tally made the score 4-1 Fayetteville with 21 seconds left in the first period. Joseph Manno picked up the assist.

The FireAntz excelled on the penalty kill, not giving up a single goal in three chances. Fayetteville bested its season scoring average. The FireAntz average 3.0 goals per game. Fayetteville relied on a core group of players for most of its offense, as McQuade, Derek Elliott and Nick Lazorko took 11 of the team's 19 shots.

Fayetteville also got points from Steven Hoshaw, who also grabbed one goal and one assist, Lazorko, who also had two goals and one assist, and Manno, who also racked up one goal and two assists. Fayetteville also got a goal from Chris Porter as well. Other players who recorded assists for Fayetteville were Alex Brooks, who had one and Kyle Gibbons, who had two.

Mississippi RiverKings managed to stay out of the box better than usual, finishing with one minor for two minutes in penalty time. Mississippi RiverKings ended up below its season average of 12.0 penalty minutes per game. With 31 shots on target during the contest, Mississippi RiverKings exceeded the 27.1 shots it averages per game this year.

Mississippi RiverKings was helped by Devin Mantha, who registered one goal. Mantha scored 7:10 into the first period to make the score 2-1 Fayetteville. Stathis Soumelidis assisted on the tally. Mississippi RiverKings additionally got points from Reid Campbell, who also tallied one goal and one assist. Cullen Bradshaw also scored for Mississippi RiverKings. In addition, Mississippi RiverKings received assists from Todd Hosmer, who had two and Sam Higgins and Charles Mosey, who contributed one each.

Parker Van Buskirk recorded 28 saves for the FireAntz. Fayetteville incurred six minutes in penalty time with three minors. Peter Di Salvo took the loss and made five saves before being replaced by Garrett Sheehan who made seven saves.
