Lazorko nets hat trick, leads Fayetteville to 4-1 win over Macon Mayhem

Nick Lazorko netted a hat trick to lead the Fayetteville FireAntz over Macon Mayhem, 4-1.

Lazorko got on the scoresheet 19:45 into the first period. He then added goals at 7:52 into the second and at 12:27 into the third.

Fayetteville was forced to rely heavily on their penalty kill unit throughout the game, as it racked up 21 penalty minutes. With 36 shots on target during the contest, the FireAntz exceeded the 26.0 shots they average per game this year.

Fayetteville also got a goal from Cole Wilson as well. In addition, Fayetteville received assists from Josh McQuade, who had two and Joseph Manno, Tayler Thompson, Chris Porter, Graeme Strukoff, and Andrew Darrigo, who contributed one each.

Macon Mayhem racked up the penalties in the contest, and ended with seven minors and one major for 19 minutes in penalty time. Macon Mayhem had been averaging 15.0 minutes in penalties per game. Macon Mayhem put up an impenetrable defensive front on the penalty kill, and did not allow Fayetteville to score on any of its three power plays.

Macon Mayhem was led by Ryan Michel, who scored the team's only goal. Michel scored on the power play 13:00 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Macon Mayhem. A roughing penalty on Brad Plumton had put Macon Mayhem on the power play. Shawn Skelly picked up the assist.

Parker Van Buskirk recorded 23 saves for the FireAntz. Garrett Bartus made 32 saves for Macon Mayhem on 36 shots. Macon Mayhem registered one goal on four power play opportunities.
