Louisiana outlasts Pensacola, 4-2

In a game where neither team could get a cushion, the Louisiana IceGators escaped with a 4-2 victory over the Pensacola Ice Flyers.

Each team kept the other at bay throughout the game, and Jake Hauswirth secured the win for Louisiana with a goal in the third period.

The IceGators were led by Tyler Prendergast, who had one goal and one assist. Prendergast scored 7:31 into the third period to make the score 3-1 Louisiana. Hauswirth provided the assist.

Louisiana excelled on the penalty kill, not giving up a single goal in four chances. The 25 shots that the IceGators put on net surpassed Louisiana's average of 22.6 shots per game this season. The IceGators' defensemen also contributed in the offensive zone and ended up with 12 shots between them.

Louisiana additionally got points from Jordan Ciccarello, who also registered one goal and one assist and Hauswirth, who also racked up one goal and one assist to lead the team in points. Louisiana also got a goal from Massimo Lamacchia as well. Other players who recorded assists for Louisiana were Zac Frischmon, Ben Kramer, Blake Hietala, and Jeremy Boyer, who each chipped in one.

Pensacola put up an impenetrable defensive front on the penalty kill, and did not allow Louisiana to score on any of its five power plays. The Ice Flyers' defensemen bolstered Pensacola's offensive attack, as they bombarded Brad Barone with 14 shots. With 32 shots on target during the contest, the Ice Flyers exceeded the 26.2 shots they average per game this year.

Pensacola was helped by Adam Pawlick, who tallied one goal. Pawlick scored 16:50 into the third period to make the score 3-2 Louisiana. Jeremy Gates picked up the assist. Joe Caveney also scored for Pensacola. In addition, Pensacola received assists from Drew Baker, Joseph Holka, and Corey Banfield, who contributed one each.

The IceGators' Barone stopped 30 shots out of the 32 that he faced. Louisiana incurred 14 minutes in penalty time with seven minors. John McLean rejected 21 shots on goal for the Ice Flyers. Pensacola incurred 16 minutes in penalty time with eight minors.
