Mississippi RiverKings falls to Peoria in overtime, 3-2 (OT)

Dave Pszenyczny gave the Peoria Rivermen a 3-2 (OT) victory over Mississippi RiverKings when he scored 44 seconds into the extra period.

Peoria overcame a two-goal deficit to capture the victory. The Rivermen was down 2-0 after a goal by Mississippi RiverKings' Matt Harrington at 8:28 in the second period. Peoria tied things up at 2-2 on a goal by Ben Power at 17:14 in the third period.

The Rivermen got the win behind a great game by Pszenyczny, who had two goals and one assist. Pszenyczny scored the first of his two goals on the power play at 17:49 into the second period to make the score 2-1 Mississippi RiverKings. Peoria had gotten the advantage when Mississippi RiverKings' Tim Boyle was sent off for hooking. Walker Wintoneak picked up the assist. Pszenyczny's next tally on the power play made the score 3-2 Peoria with 19:16 left in overtime. Power assisted on the tally.

The Rivermen's defensemen played an important role in the offense, chipping in two goals. Peoria put 32 shots on net during the contest, more than the 24.1 it averages per game.

Peoria additionally got points from Power, who also had one goal and one assist. More assists for Peoria came via Mike Gurtler and Cody Dion, who each chipped in one.

With 29 shots on target during the contest, Mississippi RiverKings exceeded the 25.2 shots it averages per game this year.

Cullen Bradshaw also scored for Mississippi RiverKings. In addition, Mississippi RiverKings received assists from Reid Campbell, Ryan Marcuz, Charles Mosey, and Todd Hosmer, who contributed one each.

Kyle Rank recorded 27 saves for the Rivermen. Peoria incurred 16 minutes in penalty time with eight minors. Peter Di Salvo made 29 saves for Mississippi RiverKings on 32 shots. Mississippi RiverKings incurred 14 minutes in penalty time with seven minors.
