Pawlick's big game bests Peoria in 6-3 Pensacola win

Adam Pawlick was all over the ice for the Pensacola Ice Flyers, as he tallied one goal and three assists in Pensacola's 6-3 win over the Peoria Rivermen.

Pawlick scored on the power play eight seconds into the third period to make the score 4-3 Pensacola. Joe Caveney assisted on the tally. Pawlick dished an assist on Stephen Buco's goal that made the score 1-0 Pensacola at 6:13 into the first period. He then added assists on Corey Banfield's goal at 11:18 into the second and on Banfield's goal at 16:45 into the third.

Peoria's power play was ineffective against the Ice Flyers' penalty kill, which allowed one goal while shorthanded.

Pensacola bested its season scoring average. The Ice Flyers have scored at the pace of 3.0 goals per game during the current campaign. Pensacola put 39 shots on net during the contest, more than the 25.5 it averages per game.

Pensacola also got a goal from Josh Cousineau as well. In addition, Pensacola received assists from Drew Baker, who had two and Mike Krieg and Jeremy Gates, who contributed one each.

The Rivermen forced the Ice Flyers goalie John McLean to work between the pipes, taking 31 shots. Peoria's defense let in more goals than it usually has this year. The Rivermen are averaging 2.3 goals against for the season. Peoria's defensemen bolstered the Rivermen's offensive attack, as they bombarded McLean with 18 shots.

Peoria was led by Walker Wintoneak, who tallied two goals. Wintoneak scored the first of his two goals at 16:41 into the first period to make the score 1-1. Dave Pszenyczny picked up the assist. Wintoneak's next tally made the score 2-1 Peoria with 52 seconds left in the first period. Adam Stuart provided the assist. Brandon Greenside also scored for Peoria. Other players who recorded assists for Peoria were Ben Oskroba and Cody Dion, who each chipped in one.

McLean recorded 28 saves for Pensacola. The Ice Flyers incurred 12 minutes in penalty time with six minors. The Rivermen's David Jacobson stopped 33 shots out of the 38 that he faced. Peoria incurred 14 minutes in penalty time with seven minors.
