Mississippi RiverKings survived a determined comeback attempt by the Huntsville Havoc on the way to a 2-1 win. A goal by Donald Olivieri put Mississippi RiverKings up 2-0 in the second period, but Huntsville pulled to within one on Dave Williams's tally 16:19 into the third period. Mississippi RiverKings' Peter Di Salvo was a brick wall in net, as he came up with 29 saves and let only one puck past him. Di Salvo certainly lowered his goals against average, which was 2.41 entering the contest. Mississippi RiverKings was led by Olivieri, who had one goal. Olivieri scored on the power play 5:23 into the second period to make the score 2-0 Mississippi RiverKings. Mississippi RiverKings had taken the advantage when the Havoc's Justin Tateson got sent off for roughing. Todd Hosmer assisted on the tally. By firing 31 shots on goal, Mississippi RiverKings exceeded the 25.0 shots it averages per game this year. Mississippi RiverKings also got a goal from Cullen Bradshaw as well. More assists for Mississippi RiverKings came via Mike Grace and Linden Bahm, who each chipped in one. Huntsville put 30 shots on net during the contest, more than the 27.1 it averages per game. The Havoc were forced to rely heavily on their penalty kill unit throughout the game, as they racked up 19 penalty minutes. In addition, Huntsville received assists from John McGinnis and John Lidgett, who contributed one each. Mississippi RiverKings totaled 11 minutes in penalty time with three minors and one major and went 1-for-6 on the power play. Kevin Genoe rejected 29 shots on goal for Huntsville. The Havoc registered zero goals on two power play opportunities.
