The Knoxville Ice Bears' Trever Hertz had a big offensive game, scoring one goal and contributing two assists in his team's 5-2 win over Macon Mayhem.

Hertz beat Curtis Martinu with a shot 10:30 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Knoxville. John Clewlow assisted on the tally. Hertz dished an assist on Dennis Sicard's goal that made the score 4-0 Knoxville at 16:35 into the second period. He added another helper on Brad Pawlowski's goal that made the score 5-2 Knoxville at 12:00 into the third period.

With 29 shots on target during the contest, Knoxville exceeded the 21.4 shots it averages per game this year. The Ice Bears found the back of the net more times than it usually has this season. Knoxville averages 2.9 goals per game.

Knoxville also got points from Pawlowski, who also had one goal and one assist. Knoxville also had goals scored by Garrett Vermeersch and Doug Reid, who each put in one. More assists for Knoxville came via Jason Price, who had two and Rich Ledy, Tyler Beasley, Zack LaRue, and Corey Hale, who contributed one each.

Macon Mayhem was led by Jackson Brewer, who registered one goal. Brewer scored on the power play 10:43 into the third period to make the score 4-2 Knoxville. Macon Mayhem earned a power play opportunity when Pawlowski was put in the box for high sticking. Shawn Skelly picked up the assist. Mark Rivera also scored for Macon Mayhem. In addition, Macon Mayhem received assists from Jake Trask, who had one.

The Ice Bears' Brian Billett stopped 27 shots out of the 29 that he faced. Knoxville totaled 26 minutes in penalty time with three minors and two majors and went 0-for-1 on the power play.
