Huntsville falls to Peoria in overtime, 4-3 (OT)

Cody Dion gave the Peoria Rivermen a 4-3 (OT) victory over the Huntsville Havoc when he scored 3:19 into the extra period.

Dion had two goals to lead Peoria to victory.

The Rivermen were forced to rely heavily on their penalty kill unit throughout the game, as they racked up 20 penalty minutes. The 40 shots that Peoria put on net surpassed the Rivermen's average of 27.6 shots per game this season.

Peoria also got points from Mike Gurtler, who also grabbed one goal and one assist. Peoria also got a goal from Alec Hagaman as well. More assists for Peoria came via Jack Callahan, Matt Summers, Connor P. Toomey, and Steve Morra, who each chipped in one.

Huntsville's penalty kill was spotless, allowing no goals on four Peoria power plays. The Havoc could not stay out of the penalty box, as the team accrued 20 minutes in penalties during the game. Huntsville's offense was clicking better than usual and put 33 shots on goal during the game, better than the 26.2 shots per game it averages.

The Havoc were helped by John McGinnis, who racked up one goal. McGinnis scored on the power play 12:48 into the first period to make the score 1-1. A slashing penalty on Hagaman had put Huntsville on the power play. Nolan Kaiser provided the assist. Huntsville additionally got points from Matt Robertson, who also tallied one goal and one assist. Joshua Ranalli also scored for Huntsville. In addition, Huntsville received assists from John Lidgett, who had one and Bo Driscoll, who had two.

David Jacobson rejected 30 shots on goal for Peoria. Kevin Genoe recorded 36 saves for the Havoc. Huntsville registered two goals on four power play opportunities.
