Fayetteville wins tough contest against Louisiana, 3-2Crown Coliseum Fri, Mar 11, 2016 Story by Narrative Science.
Fayetteville's penalty kill excelled, as Fayetteville gave up zero goals despite allowing six power plays. FireAntz were sparked by Andrew Darrigo, who finished with one goal. Darrigo scored in the third period to make the score 3-2 Fayetteville. The goal was assisted by Devin Stuermer and Joseph Manno. Fayetteville stifled IceGators's power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man. FireAntz relied on a core group of players for most of their offense, as Nick Lazorko, Tayler Thompson and Stuermer took 12 of the team's 22 shots. Fayetteville additionally got points from Manno, who also registered one goal and one assist to lead the team in points. Fayetteville also got a goal from Lazorko as well. In addition, Fayetteville received assists from Stuermer and Brad Plumton, who each chipped in one. Louisiana put up an impenetrable defensive front on the penalty kill, and did not allow Fayetteville to score on any of their four power plays. Jake Hauswirth, Zac Frischmon and Darius Cole combined for nine shots to lead IceGators in the offensive zone John Daniels also scored for Louisiana. More assists for Louisiana came via David Gandara and Dylan Hood, who contributed one apiece. Parker Van Buskirk rejected 15 shots on goal for FireAntz. Fayetteville incurred 12 minutes in penalty time with six minors. Louisiana's Brad Barone stopped 19 shots out of the 22 that he faced. IceGators incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors.
