Huntsville holds on for 5-4 win against Fayetteville

The Fayetteville FireAntz tried their best to erase a three-goal deficit, but the Huntsville Havoc would not be denied the victory and hung on to win, 5-4.

Huntsville made the score 4-1 on a goal by John Lidgett at 2:16 in the second period, and Fayetteville got as close as 4-3 when Cole Wilson scored 1:53 into the third period.

The Havoc were led by Jeremy Beirnes, who registered one goal. Beirnes scored 7:40 into the third period to make the score 5-3 Huntsville. Stuart Stefan provided the assist.

Huntsville put 30 shots on net during the contest, more than the 25.1 it averages per game. The Havoc found the back of the net more times than it usually has this season. Huntsville averages 2.8 goals per game.

Huntsville additionally got points from Scott Henegar, who also racked up one goal and one assist, Kyle McNeil, who also had one goal and one assist, and Lidgett, who also tallied one goal and one assist. Nolan Kaiser also scored for Huntsville. In addition, Huntsville received assists from John McGinnis, who had three and Nick Schneider, Matt Robertson, and Michael Zannella, who contributed one each.

Fayetteville also had goals scored by Joseph Manno, Kyle Gibbons, and Graeme Strukoff, who each put in one. Other players who recorded assists for Fayetteville were Michael Beaudry, who had two and Michael Montagna, Benjamin Rubin, Josh McQuade, and Brad Plumton, who each chipped in one.

Kevin Genoe made 25 saves for the Havoc on 29 shots. Huntsville incurred 10 minutes in penalty time with five minors. Parker Van Buskirk recorded 25 saves for the FireAntz. Fayetteville incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors.
