Knoxville falls to Peoria in overtime, 3-2 (OT)Peoria Civic Center Sat, Nov 14, 2015 Story by Narrative Science.
Garrett Vermeersch gave the Peoria Rivermen a 3-2 (OT) victory over the Knoxville Ice Bears when he scored 1:16 into the extra period. Peoria was paced by Vermeersch, who tallied one goal. With 38 shots on target during the contest, the Rivermen exceeded the 22.9 shots they average per game this year. Peoria also got points from Jake Trask, who also tallied one goal and one assist to lead the team in points. Peoria also got a goal from Alec Hagaman as well. More assists for Peoria came via Michael Slowikowski, Brandon Greenside, Mike Gurtler, and Francis Meilleur, who contributed one each. By firing 30 shots on goal, Knoxville exceeded the 26.9 shots it averages per game this year. The Ice Bears were helped by Todd Hosmer, who registered one goal. Hosmer scored on the power play 6:12 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Knoxville. Knoxville had gotten the advantage when Peoria's Dan Bremner was sent off for charging. Ben Power provided the assist. Zack LaRue also scored for Knoxville. In addition, Knoxville received assists from Jason Price and Trever Hertz, who each chipped in one. The Rivermen's Kyle Rank stopped 28 shots out of the 30 that he faced. Peoria totaled 22 minutes in penalty time with one minor and two majors and went 0-for-2 on the power play. The Rivermen ran into serious disciplinary problems during the contest, and Matt Summers was ejected from the game. Braely Torris made 35 saves for the Ice Bears on 38 shots. Knoxville totaled 11 minutes in penalty time with three minors and one major and went 1-for-2 on the power play.
