The Peoria Rivermen tried their best to erase a four-goal deficit, but the Louisiana IceGators would not be denied the victory and hung on to win, 7-5. A goal by John Daniels put Louisiana up 7-3 in the third period, but Peoria pulled to within two on Adam Stuart's tally 19:47 into the third period. Jake Hauswirth was a peerless playmaker for the IceGators, as he dished out five to beat the Rivermen,. Louisiana was often in penalty trouble, totaling eight minors and two majors for 26 minutes in penalty time. The total exceeded the 20.0 minutes per game the IceGators had been spending in the box. By firing 28 shots on goal, Louisiana exceeded the 23.1 shots it averages per game this year. The IceGators outdid their season average for goals scored. This season, Louisiana averages 2.7 goals per contest. The IceGators cashed in on power play opportunities, scoring four goals on seven chances.
