Huntsville downs Columbus, 5-2

Michael Zannella grabbed one point to lead the Huntsville Havoc to a 5-2 victory over the Columbus Cottonmouths.

Huntsville managed to stay out of the box better than usual, totaling one minor for two minutes in penalty time. The Havoc finished below its season average of 25.0 penalty minutes per game. Huntsville surpassed its usual scoring output this season. The Havoc have scored at the pace of 2.9 goals per game during the current campaign. By firing 34 shots on goal, Huntsville exceeded the 25.7 shots it averages per game this year.

Huntsville additionally got points from Joshua Ranalli, who also finished with one goal and one assist. Others who scored for Huntsville included Scott Henegar, Jackson Brewer, and John McGinnis, who each put in one. More assists for Huntsville came via Justin Tateson and Lindsay LeBlanc, who each chipped in one.

Columbus put 26 shots on net during the contest, more than the 18.9 it averages per game.

The Cottonmouths were helped by Ben OQuinn, who tallied one goal. OQuinn scored 18:03 into the third period to make the score 4-2 Huntsville. Kyle Johnson picked up the assist. Columbus also got a goal from John Hubbard as well. In addition, Columbus received assists from Patrick McCadden, who had one.

Kevin Genoe made 24 saves for the Havoc on 26 shots. Huntsville registered zero goals on two power play opportunities. Brandon Jaeger recorded 29 saves for Columbus. The Cottonmouths totaled 17 minutes in penalty time with one minor and one major and went 0-for-1 on the power play. For Columbus, Al Graves was ejected from the game.
