Knoxville falls to Mississippi RiverKings after surprising comeback

Mississippi RiverKings climbed out of a two-goal hole to beat the Knoxville Ice Bears, 3-2.

Mississippi RiverKings never led in the game until netting the game winner. Mississippi RiverKings fell behind 2-0 after a goal by Knoxville's Garrett Vermeersch at 19:12 in the second period. Mississippi RiverKings tied things up at 2-2 on a goal by Matt Harrington at 9:48 in the third period. Mississippi RiverKings netted the game winner at 15:25 in the third period on a goal by Harrington.

Mississippi RiverKings got the win behind a great game by Cullen Bradshaw, who had one goal and two assists. Bradshaw scored 4:44 into the third period to make the score 2-1 Knoxville. Harrington assisted on the tally.

Mississippi RiverKings' offense was clicking better than usual and put 29 shots on goal during the game, better than the 25.2 shots per game it averages.

Mississippi RiverKings additionally got points from Harrington, who also grabbed one goal and one assist. Bret Peppler also scored for Mississippi RiverKings. Other players who recorded assists for Mississippi RiverKings were Sam Higgins, who had two.

The Ice Bears' penalty kill was spotless, allowing no goals on three Mississippi RiverKings power plays.

Knoxville also got points from Brad Pawlowski, who also finished with one goal and one assist to lead the team in points. In addition, Knoxville received assists from Andrew Bonazza and John Clewlow, who contributed one each.

Garrett Sheehan made 22 saves for Mississippi RiverKings on 24 shots. Mississippi RiverKings incurred four minutes in penalty time with two minors. Bryan Hince rejected 26 shots on goal for Knoxville. The Ice Bears incurred 16 minutes in penalty time with three minors.
