Huntsville uses early goal to top Mississippi RiverKings, 4-2

The Huntsville Havoc took the lead against Mississippi RiverKings in the first period and maintained it until the end of the game to secure a tight 4-2 victory.

Huntsville took over the lead for good with a goal by John McGinnis at 11:43 in the first period. John Lidgett provided the assist.

Scott Henegar had a great game for the Havoc, netting two goals. Henegar's tallies came at 5:13 into the second period to make the score 3-1 Huntsville and 2:40 into the third to make the score 4-2 Huntsville.

Huntsville excelled on the penalty kill, not giving up a single goal in three chances. The Havoc put 32 shots on net during the contest, more than the 27.0 they average per game.

Huntsville additionally got points from Jackson Brewer, who also had one goal and two assists to lead the team in points. Other players who recorded assists for Huntsville were Steve Mele, Jeremy Beirnes, and Bo Driscoll, who contributed one each.

Mississippi RiverKings' offense rang up 40 shots on Huntsville's net.

Mississippi RiverKings was helped by Troy Polino, who finished with one goal. Polino scored 12:25 into the second period to make the score 3-2 Huntsville. Donald Olivieri picked up the assist. Mississippi RiverKings also got a goal from Mark Pustin as well. In addition, Mississippi RiverKings received assists from Linden Bahm and Garrett Sheehan, who each chipped in one.

The Havoc's Kevin Genoe stopped 38 shots out of the 40 that he faced. Huntsville incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors. Sheehan rejected 28 shots on goal for Mississippi RiverKings. Mississippi RiverKings incurred six minutes in penalty time with three minors.
