Peoria survives penalties, beats Columbus, 6-3Columbus Civic Center Fri, Jan 22, 2016 Story by Narrative Science.
The Columbus Cottonmouths failed to take advantage of their power play opportunities and the Peoria Rivermen shook off a number of penalties to win, 6-3. Peoria's goal total was higher than its season average. The Rivermen have scored at the pace of 3.6 goals per game during the current campaign. The defensemen of Peoria were also effective in Columbus' zone, and came away with two goals. The Rivermen put 50 shots on net during the contest, more than the 28.8 they average per game. Peoria found itself short handed often, totaling 24 penalty minutes and allowing nine power plays. The Rivermen were helped by Steve Morra, who racked up one goal and one assist. Morra scored short handed 9:57 into the second period to make the score 2-1 Peoria. Peoria was on a disadvantage when Dan Bremner went off the ice for tripping. David Jacobson picked up the assist. Peoria additionally got points from Brandon Greenside, who also grabbed one goal and one assist, Matt Summers, who also finished with one goal and one assist, Connor P.
