Pensacola survives Louisiana comeback, wins 3-2

The Louisiana IceGators tried their best to erase a two-goal deficit, but the Pensacola Ice Flyers would not be denied the victory and hung on to win, 3-2.

A goal by Corey Banfield put Pensacola up 3-1 in the second period, but Louisiana pulled to within one on Jake Hauswirth's tally 11:25 into the third period.

The Ice Flyers were led by Banfield, who grabbed one goal and one assist. Banfield scored on the power play 19:36 into the second period to make the score 3-1 Pensacola. Pensacola had gained a power play chance when Brad Bourke was whistled for illegal check to the head. Joe Caveney provided the assist.

Pensacola also got points from Caveney, who also racked up one goal and one assist. Pensacola also got a goal from Stephen Buco as well. In addition, Pensacola received assists from Cole Ruwe, Dean Moore, Ludlow Harris, and Adam Pawlick, who contributed one each.

By firing 29 shots on goal, the IceGators exceeded the 24.4 shots they average per game this year.

Dan Cornell also scored for Louisiana. More assists for Louisiana came via John Daniels and Alex Hudson, who each chipped in one.

The Ice Flyers' John McLean stopped 27 shots out of the 29 that he faced. Pensacola incurred four minutes in penalty time with two minors. Brad Barone recorded 24 saves for Louisiana. The IceGators incurred 10 minutes in penalty time with five minors.
