Columbus falls to Louisiana in overtime, 3-2 (OT)

Jake Hauswirth gave the Louisiana IceGators a 3-2 (OT) victory over the Columbus Cottonmouths when he scored 30 seconds into the extra period.

Louisiana nearly gave up a two-score lead. The IceGators made the score 2-0 on a goal by John Daniels at 6:50 in the second period. Columbus got to within 2-1 on a power play goal by John Jackson at 7:47 in the third period.

Daniels had two goals and one assist to lead Louisiana. Daniels scored the first of his two goals at 1:57 into the second period to make the score 1-0 Louisiana. Hauswirth picked up the assist. Daniels' next tally made the score 2-0 Louisiana with 13:10 left in the second period. Vladyslav Gavrik assisted on the tally.

The 24 shots that the IceGators put on net surpassed Louisiana's average of 20.8 shots per game this season.

Louisiana additionally got points from Hauswirth, who also racked up one goal and one assist. In addition, Louisiana received assists from Travis Armstrong and Jordan Ciccarello, who each chipped in one.

By firing 40 shots on goal, the Cottonmouths exceeded the 24.2 shots they average per game this year.

Columbus also got a goal from Ben OQuinn as well. Other players who recorded assists for Columbus were Dylen McKinlay, Louis Belisle, Andy Bathgate, and Shawn Bates, who contributed one each.

Brad Barone made 38 saves for the IceGators on 40 shots. Louisiana totaled 17 minutes in penalty time with six minors and one major and went 0-for-2 on the power play. Columbus' Brandon Jaeger stopped 21 shots out of the 24 that he faced. The Cottonmouths totaled nine minutes in penalty time with two minors and one major and went 1-for-6 on the power play.
