The Peoria Rivermen and the Fayetteville FireAntz were evenly matched throughout their contest, but Peoria made the most of its opportunities and won, 3-2. No lead was more than two goals during the contest, and the winning goal was scored by Adam Stuart at 2:46 of the second period. The Rivermen were led by Walker Wintoneak, who racked up one goal. Wintoneak scored on the power play 14:39 into the second period to make the score 3-1 Peoria. A cross checking penalty on Kyle Gibbons had put Peoria on the power play. Stuart assisted on the tally. Peoria also got points from Stuart, who also had one goal and one assist. Steve Morra also scored for Peoria. In addition, Peoria received assists from Terrence Wallin, who had one and Brandon Greenside and Daniel Turgeon, who each chipped in two. Fayetteville forced its penalty killing units to work especially hard during the game, picking up eight minors and two majors for 26 minutes in penalty time. The total exceeded the 19.0 minutes per game the FireAntz had been spending in the box. Fayetteville also got a goal from Joseph Manno as well. More assists for Fayetteville came via Brad Drobot, Graeme Strukoff, Joe Tolles, and Bennett Schneider, who contributed one each. David Jacobson rejected 23 shots on goal for the Rivermen. Peoria totaled 16 minutes in penalty time with three minors and two majors and went 2-for-8 on the power play. Sean Bonar made 22 saves for Fayetteville on 25 shots. The FireAntz registered one goal on one power play opportunities.
