Macon Mayhem's Daniel Gentzler scored 4:57 into overtime to beat the Columbus Cottonmouths, 2-1 (OT). Gentzler had a great game for Macon Mayhem, netting two goals. Macon Mayhem was led by goalie Garrett Bartus, who finished with 25 saves while allowing one goal. Bartus managed to improve on his goals against average, which stood at 2.37 prior to the game. Macon Mayhem put up an impenetrable defensive front on the penalty kill, and did not allow Columbus to score on any of its four power plays. The 42 shots that Macon Mayhem put on net surpassed Macon Mayhem's average of 23.6 shots per game this season. Other players who recorded assists for Macon Mayhem were Austin Daae, Ryan Michel, Jake Trask, and Shawn Skelly, who contributed one each. The Cottonmouths avoided man-down situations well, finishing with one major for five minutes in penalty time. Columbus finished below its season average of 17.0 penalty minutes per game. The Cottonmouths were led by Cody Freeman, who scored the team's only goal. Freeman scored 18:05 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Columbus. Kyle Brodie assisted on the tally. Macon Mayhem ended with 13 minutes in penalty time with four minors and one major and had no power play opportunities. Shannon Szabados made 40 saves for Columbus on 42 shots.
