Peoria uses big games from Stuart and Morra to down Huntsville, 7-2

Behind one goal and two assists from Adam Stuart and two goals and one assist from Steve Morra, the Peoria Rivermen downed the Huntsville Havoc 7-2.

Stuart scored on the power play 19:03 into the first period to make the score 3-2 Peoria. Peoria had gotten the advantage when Huntsville's Brett Lutes was sent off for tripping. Matt Summers provided the assist. Morra scored the first of his two goals at 5:15 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Peoria. Brandon Greenside picked up the assist. Morra's next tally made the score 6-3 Peoria with 10:57 left in the third period. Stuart assisted on the tally.

The Rivermen bested their season scoring average. Peoria averages 3.2 goals per game. With 43 shots on target during the contest, the Rivermen exceeded the 22.8 shots they average per game this year.

Peoria also got points from Terrence Wallin, who also had two goals and one assist and Morra, who also registered two goals and one assist to lead the team in points. Peoria also had goals scored by Alec Hagaman and Ben Oskroba, who each put in one. In addition, Peoria received assists from Christian Weidauer and Don Maloney Jr., who each chipped in one and Dan Bremner, Chris Wilson, and Mike Donnellan, who contributed two each.

The Havoc relied on a core group of players for most of their offense, as John Lidgett, Kyle McNeil and Dave Williams took 16 of the team's 30 shots.

More assists for Huntsville came via Zach Josepher and Stuart Stefan, who each chipped in one.

David Jacobson made 28 saves for Peoria on 30 shots. The Rivermen incurred 16 minutes in penalty time with three minors. Kevin Genoe took the loss and made 33 saves before being replaced by Matt Cooper who made three saves. Huntsville incurred 18 minutes in penalty time with four minors. For the Havoc, Lutes was ejected from the game.
