The Fayetteville FireAntz relied on the sparkling performance of Sean Bonar in net to grab a 3-1 win against the Knoxville Ice Bears. Fayetteville was led by Zac Frischmon, who grabbed one goal. Frischmon scored 16:32 into the third period to make the score 2-1 Fayetteville. Tayler Thompson assisted on the tally. The FireAntz put up an impenetrable defensive front on the penalty kill, and did not allow Knoxville to score on any of its three power plays. Fayetteville kept the Ice Bears' goalie busy throughout the game, and Bryan Hince made 29 saves on 32 shots. Fayetteville also had goals scored by Berkley Scott and Cole Wilson, who scored one goal each. Other players who recorded assists for Fayetteville were Nicholas Rivait, Steven Hoshaw, Josh McQuade, and Graeme Strukoff, who contributed one each. With 31 shots on target during the contest, Knoxville exceeded the 24.5 shots it averages per game this year. The Ice Bears were led by Trever Hertz, who scored the team's only goal. Hertz scored short handed 6:03 into the second period to make the score 1-1. Knoxville played down a man on Corey Hale's tripping. Bonar recorded 30 saves for the FireAntz. Fayetteville totaled 11 minutes in penalty time with three minors and one major and went 0-for-1 on the power play. The Ice Bears ended with nine minutes in penalty time with two minors and one major.
