The Columbus Cottonmouths used a sparkling performance by Shannon Szabados to take down the Huntsville Havoc, as the netminder did not allow a goal in Columbus' 3-0 shutout victory. The Cottonmouths were led by Ben OQuinn, who tallied one goal. OQuinn scored 2:19 into the second period to make the score 1-0 Columbus. Andy Willigar picked up the assist. Columbus excelled on the penalty kill, not giving up a single goal in three chances. With 30 shots on target during the contest, the Cottonmouths exceeded the 25.1 shots they average per game this year. Columbus also got points from Louis Belisle, who also finished with one goal and one assist and Chris Rial, who also grabbed one goal and one assist to lead the team in points. Huntsville's penalty kill was spotless, allowing no goals on four Columbus power plays. The Havoc did not reach the goal total they have come to expect this season. Huntsville ended with 26 minutes in penalty time with three minors and two majors. The Havoc ran into serious disciplinary problems during the contest, and Will Aide was ejected from the game.
