Ryan Kesti scored the clinching goal in a shootout, and the Pensacola Ice Flyers picked up the extra point in a 4-3 (3-1 SO) win over the Louisiana IceGators. The shootout lasted for nine attempts between the teams. Louisiana got a shootout goal from Jeremy Boyer. Pensacola also got shootout goals from Jeremy Gates and Kesti.The Ice Flyers came back from a one-goal deficit to capture the victory. Pensacola trailed 3-2 after a goal by the IceGators' Geordie Wudrick at 13:16 in the second period. The Ice Flyers knotted things up at 3-3 on a short handed goal by Kesti at 11:50 in the third period. Pensacola got the win on the strength of a great game by Kesti, who had one goal and one assist. The Ice Flyers excelled on the penalty kill, not giving up a single goal in five chances. By firing 41 shots on goal, Pensacola exceeded the 30.0 shots it averages per game this year. The Ice Flyers were led by Kesti, who racked up one goal and one assist. Others who scored for Pensacola included Cody Dion and Corey Banfield, who scored one goal each. In addition, Pensacola received assists from John Clewlow, Stephen Buco, Gates, and Joe Caveney, who each chipped in one. Louisiana's penalty box was a popular destination as the team totaled eight minors and one major for 21 minutes in penalty time. The IceGators had been averaging 18.0 minutes in penalties per game. Louisiana stifled Pensacola's power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man. Louisiana also got a goal from John Daniels as well. Other players who recorded assists for Louisiana were Nicholas Kuqali and Brad Bourke, who contributed one each and Travis Armstrong and Dylan Hood, who each chipped in two. The Ice Flyers' John McLean stopped 21 shots out of the 24 that he faced. Pensacola totaled 15 minutes in penalty time with five minors and one major and went 0-for-8 on the power play. Brad Barone rejected 37 shots on goal for the IceGators.
