Bartus stymies Fayetteville, Macon Mayhem wins 4-1

Garrett Bartus stood on his head and made 33 saves to lead Macon Mayhem to a 4-1 victory over the Fayetteville FireAntz.

Macon Mayhem was led by Shawn Skelly, who grabbed one goal and one assist. Skelly scored on the power play 9:48 into the second period to make the score 2-0 Macon Mayhem. An interference penalty on Steven Hoshaw had put Macon Mayhem on the power play. Jake Trask assisted on the tally.

Macon Mayhem put 25 shots on net during the contest, more than the 19.2 it averages per game.

Macon Mayhem additionally got points from Trask, who also finished with two goals and one assist to lead the team in points. Macon Mayhem also got a goal from Vadim Guskov as well. More assists for Macon Mayhem came via Austin Daae, who had two and Nick Grasso and Daniel Gentzler, who each chipped in one.

Fayetteville racked up the penalties in the contest, and ended with seven minors and two majors for 34 minutes in penalty time. The FireAntz surpassed its season average of 20.0 penalty minutes per game. Fayetteville was held below its usual level of production. The FireAntz average 3.2 goals per game. Fayetteville's offense rang up 34 shots on Macon Mayhem's net.

The FireAntz were led by Kyle Gibbons, who scored the team's only goal. Gibbons scored 19:58 into the second period to make the score 2-1 Macon Mayhem. Josh McQuade picked up the assist.

Macon Mayhem totaled 28 minutes in penalty time with four minors and two majors and went 1-for-5 on the power play. Fayetteville's Sean Bonar stopped 21 shots out of the 24 that he faced. The FireAntz registered zero goals on two power play opportunities.
