Huntsville downs Knoxville in overtime, 4-3 (OT)

The Huntsville Havoc pulled out a 4-3 (OT) overtime victory over the Knoxville Ice Bears on a clutch goal by Kyle McNeil.

Huntsville overcame a two-goal deficit to capture the victory. The Havoc was down 2-0 after a goal by Knoxville's Doug Reid at 17:29 in the first period. Huntsville tied things up at 3-3 on a power play goal by Todd Hosmer at 15:34 in the third period.

McNeil had a great game for the Havoc, netting two goals. McNeil's tallies came at 5:04 into the second period to make the score 2-1 Knoxville and 1:07 into the fourth to make the score 4-3 Huntsville.

Others who scored for Huntsville included Brett Lutes and Jeremy Beirnes, who each put in one. In addition, Huntsville received assists from Stuart Stefan, Nick Schneider, Steve Mele, Jackson Brewer, John Lidgett, and Will Aide, who contributed one each.

The Ice Bears relied on a core group of players for most of their offense, as Hosmer, Josh Cousineau and Reid took 14 of the team's 24 shots.

Other players who recorded assists for Knoxville were Jake Flegel, Andrew Bonazza, Corey Hale, and Dennis Sicard, who each chipped in one.

Huntsville's Kevin Genoe stopped 21 shots out of the 24 that he faced. The Havoc totaled 13 minutes in penalty time with four minors and one major and went 0-for-2 on the power play. Braely Torris made 22 saves for Knoxville on 26 shots. The Ice Bears totaled 11 minutes in penalty time with three minors and one major and went 1-for-3 on the power play.
