Peoria downs Mississippi RiverKings, 5-2

The Peoria Rivermen took home the win against Mississippi RiverKings, 5-2.

Peoria stifled Mississippi RiverKings' power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man. The Rivermen surpassed their usual scoring output this season. Peoria averages 2.9 goals per game. With 33 shots on target during the contest, the Rivermen exceeded the 24.7 shots they average per game this year.

Peoria was helped by Adam Stuart, who had one goal. Stuart scored 13:45 into the first period to make the score 2-0 Peoria. Chris Wilson picked up the assist. Peoria also got points from Wilson, who also registered one goal and one assist to lead the team in points. Others who scored for Peoria included Dan Bremner, Garrett Vermeersch, and Matt Summers, who scored one goal each. In addition, Peoria received assists from Christian Weidauer, who had two and Mark Corbett, Brandon Greenside, Terrence Wallin, Mike Donnellan, and Nick Grasso, who contributed one each.

Mississippi RiverKings' defense was uncharacteristically lax during the game. Mississippi RiverKings averages 2.5 goals allowed per game. Mississippi RiverKings' offense was clicking better than usual and put 33 shots on goal during the game, better than the 27.8 shots per game it averages.

Mississippi RiverKings was helped by Michael Beaudry, who tallied one goal. Beaudry scored 7:13 into the second period to make the score 4-2 Peoria. Dean Willmott assisted on the tally. Devin Mantha also scored for Mississippi RiverKings. More assists for Mississippi RiverKings came via Matt Beer, who had one.
