Huge game by Gibbons boosts Fayetteville over Macon Mayhem, 5-2Macon Centreplex Fri, Dec 11, 2015 Story by Narrative Science.
Behind a great game by Kyle Gibbons, who had two goals and two assists, the Fayetteville FireAntz defeated Macon Mayhem, 5-2. Gibbons' tallies came on the power play at 6:53 into the second period to make the score 2-0 Fayetteville and 18:02 into the third to make the score 5-2 Fayetteville.Fayetteville put up an impenetrable defensive front on the penalty kill, and did not allow Macon Mayhem to score on any of its four power plays. The FireAntz were hit hard by penalties in the contest, and totaled five minors and two majors for 20 minutes in penalty time. With 36 shots on target during the contest, Fayetteville exceeded the 29.7 shots it averages per game this year. Fayetteville additionally got points from Nick Lazorko, who also racked up two goals and one assist. Fayetteville also got a goal from Cole Wilson as well. More assists for Fayetteville came via Derek Elliott, who had two and Steven Hoshaw, Josh McQuade, and Joe Tolles, who contributed one each. Macon Mayhem kept the FireAntz's goalie busy throughout the game, and Parker Van Buskirk made 31 saves on 33 shots. Macon Mayhem was helped by Daniel Gentzler, who tallied one goal. Gentzler scored 3:45 into the third period to make the score 3-1 Fayetteville. Luc Kilgore assisted on the tally. Ryan Michel also scored for Macon Mayhem. In addition, Macon Mayhem received assists from Vadim Guskov and Connor P. Toomey, who each chipped in one. Fayetteville registered one goal on four power play opportunities. Macon Mayhem's Garrett Bartus stopped 31 shots out of the 35 that he faced. Macon Mayhem ended with 18 minutes in penalty time with four minors and two majors.
