Behind a great game by John Clewlow, who had two goals, the Pensacola Ice Flyers defeated the Louisiana IceGators, 5-2.

Louisiana's power play was ineffective against Pensacola's penalty kill, which allowed one goal while shorthanded.

The Ice Flyers' penalty box was a popular destination as the team totaled seven minors and two majors for 24 minutes in penalty time. Pensacola surpassed its season average of 21.0 penalty minutes per game.

Pensacola also got points from Corey Banfield, who also had one goal and one assist. Others who scored for Pensacola included Joe Caveney and Steve Bergin, who each put in one. Other players who recorded assists for Pensacola were Cole Ruwe, Mike Krieg, and David Segal, who contributed one each and Stephen Buco, Jeremy Gates, and Adam Pawlick, who each chipped in two.

The IceGators racked up the penalties in the contest, and ended with 12 minors and two majors for 34 minutes in penalty time. The total exceeded the 17.0 minutes per game Louisiana had been spending in the box.

The IceGators were led by Geordie Wudrick, who registered one goal. Wudrick scored 2:24 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Louisiana. Anthony Pisano picked up the assist. Benjamin Rubin also scored for Louisiana. In addition, Louisiana received assists from Mike Kavanagh, Jake Hauswirth, and Vladyslav Gavrik, who contributed one each.

The Ice Flyers' John McLean stopped 22 shots out of the 24 that he faced. Pensacola registered three goals on 11 power play opportunities. Alex Vazzano recorded 23 saves for Louisiana.
