Behind a great game by John Clewlow, who had two goals, the Pensacola Ice Flyers defeated the Louisiana IceGators, 5-2. Clewlow's tallies came at 2:29 into the second period to make the score 2-1 Pensacola and 6:32 into the second to make the score 3-1 Pensacola.Louisiana's power play was ineffective against Pensacola's penalty kill, which allowed one goal while shorthanded. The Ice Flyers' penalty box was a popular destination as the team totaled seven minors and two majors for 24 minutes in penalty time. Pensacola surpassed its season average of 21.0 penalty minutes per game. Pensacola also got points from Corey Banfield, who also had one goal and one assist. Others who scored for Pensacola included Joe Caveney and Steve Bergin, who each put in one. In addition, Louisiana received assists from Mike Kavanagh, Jake Hauswirth, and Vladyslav Gavrik, who contributed one each. The Ice Flyers' John McLean stopped 22 shots out of the 24 that he faced. Pensacola registered three goals on 11 power play opportunities. Alex Vazzano recorded 23 saves for Louisiana.
