Huge game by Manno boosts Fayetteville over Pensacola, 6-3

Joseph Manno had two goals and one assist to lead the Fayetteville FireAntz to a 6-3 victory over the Pensacola Ice Flyers.

Manno's tallies came at 9:36 into the first period to make the score 1-1 and 12:53 into the second to make the score 3-2 Fayetteville.

Fayetteville's penalty kill excelled, as the FireAntz gave up one goal despite allowing six power plays.

Fayetteville was often in penalty trouble, totaling seven minors and three majors for 29 minutes in penalty time. The total exceeded the 20.0 minutes per game the FireAntz had been spending in the box. Fayetteville found the back of the net more times than it usually has this season. The FireAntz average 3.7 goals per game. Fayetteville's offense was clicking better than usual and put 31 shots on goal during the game, better than the 27.7 shots per game it averages.

Fayetteville also got points from Cole Wilson, who also registered one goal and one assist. Fayetteville also had goals scored by Steven Hoshaw, Nick Lazorko, and Derek Elliott, who scored one goal each. More assists for Fayetteville came via Josh McQuade, Brad Plumton, and Zach Carriveau, who each chipped in one and Berkley Scott, Tayler Thompson, and Zac Frischmon, who contributed two each.

Pensacola could not stay out of the penalty box, as the team accrued 23 minutes in penalties during the game.

The Ice Flyers were helped by Corey Banfield, who racked up one goal. Banfield scored on the power play 15:43 into the second period to make the score 3-3. Pensacola had taken the advantage when the FireAntz's Carriveau got sent off for tripping. Stephen Buco assisted on the tally. Others who scored for Pensacola included Adam Pawlick and Steve Bergin, who each put in one. In addition, Pensacola received assists from Mike Krieg, Jeremy Gates, and David Segal, who each chipped in one.

Parker Van Buskirk rejected 22 shots on goal for Fayetteville. The FireAntz registered two goals on four power play opportunities. Matt Zenzola made 25 saves for the Ice Flyers on 30 shots.
